We're going in September if that makes a difference.
Thanks.

Avan, come on, really? OP from Ontario looking to stay near Lake Placid and Boston. Of course they are talking about Lake Placid, NY and Boston, MA. I mean, former Olympic venue, high peaks area, Adirondacks. Lake Placid is still a huge tourist destination and on the way to Boston for them.
This Lake Placid, and this Boston. I would assume both are major enough /famous enough that it was clear. If it was somewhere like Portland, I'd specify Maine or Oregon, or Washington, state or DC.
Thanks for the suggestions.
For the record I assumed you meant the obvious locations.
The other locations are too obscure to be taken seriously.
I clearly understood your original post, some would like to make your question a trivia contest.
There is only one Lake Placid and/or Boston with that has achieved national recognition.

All but two of those responding are from NY or the NE and, I presume, also responding based on their regional knowledge and presumption of what the OP meant. Nonetheless, since the OP hasn't been back, your and GeoBoy's GUESS as to what OP meant is still a guess. Maybe a better one than mine, maybe not, but it is a guess. The OP asked a question and I provided a valid answer so take a valium.
BTW, in several of the states that have an actual "Lake Placid", there is also a town named "Boston" and"on the way" would apply there as well even though OP didn't mention "on the way" as some sort of defining characteristic for his/her question. Nor did OP the OP define the question in terms of "former Olympic venue" "high peaks(really?? :))", "Adirondacks" or "tourist area" so not sure where you came up with those as pertinent to the OP's inquiry. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Those in fly over country or here in the redneck south or on the left coast might assume differently 🙂 That's not splitting hairs. It's a big country that spans far from the NE.
As to placid lakes - I sure would agree with your statement. In addition to the the many lakes in this country that are named "Lake Placid", there are dozens more named "Placid Lake.":)

Geo(graphy?)Boy. Read the title and the post. Not one word about NY. Is Boston in NY? OP is from Canada. Nothing, absolutely nothing, in the post or about the poster to connect Lake Placid to NY. I know of at least 7 states that have a Lake Placid within their borders. Apparently some need to broaden their horizons 🙂
Well, if we're splitting hairs here, I'll bet the every lake in the world is placid at some point in time. 😉

As far as Boston I have heard that Normandy Farms is really nice.
