Looking for a very specific kind of park

Sand Dollar Resort and RV park, Fulton Tx. Not so much grass but a beautiful canopy

Look at Lake Okeechobee / Clewiston KOA. It's under new ownership & staff is working every day to improve the grounds & cabins.
Trash is picked up for you. We arrived last month & are quite happy with the place. :B

Actually we have spent some time in CO; it was a few years ago before I began my little CG review effort. We stayed at Mesa Verde NP and also at a private CG near Durango, where we rode the narrow gauge to Silverton and back. More recently we rode the Cumbres & Toltec from Antonito to Chama on a perfect October day just 24 hours after a snowstorm.

I know about the Golden Museum, but haven't been there yet. One of these days!

The city of Burlington, VT operates a campground at North Beach that's right on the bike trail (extending for many miles along Lake Champlain). It's a pretty short ride to the downtown area, maybe a mile or two. The beach itself is very nice (and popular during summer days).

The campground itself is adequate but in my opinion unexceptional. There are trees and such, but the sites tend towards the rustic and are somewhat close together and one generally won't find perfectly manicured lawns and planting beds and so forth. I gather that at times it can get a little bit on the loud/party side, though I haven't experienced that personally.

Wenatchee Confluence SP, Wenatchee, WA. Beautiful, open SP at the confluence of the Wenatchee and the Columbia Rivers. Paved 10 mile bike trail which runs between Wenatchee and E. Wenatchee on both sides of the river passes along the edge of the park.

Hellsgate SP, Lewiston, ID. Beautiful SP on the Snake R. Just like the SP described above, the 2 cities bordering the Snake here (Lewiston, ID & Clarkston, WA) each have extensive, connecting bike trail systems via the 2 bridges over the river. The SP's paved bike path connects to it.

Lots of great SP's in the PNW and these 2 are in my top 5. Ready access to excellent city bike trail systems is a big plus.

Port Townsend, would likely be a great summer hideout, as it is on the water - near a Town - and in a normal year the summer would be Great.

Star Valley - tell me about it - I was just flying around on Google Maps and ran into it once and you are the first person who has ever mentioned it - Looked like a Great Snow Bird Summer spot? Lot's around it but seems to be just far enough to be Too Far?

Anyway it would be great to give us all a little more on both.

It's a quaint small town with many old Victorians. No big box stores although they're available in nearby Sequim. The downtown area is vibrant with activity. Opportunities to attend many concerts and many of them are free. Any water activity you may want. Nearby ferry access - passenger or car - to Seattle for a day trip; Vancouver Island for a day trip and to Coupeville for access by car to areas north of Seattle. Easy drive to nearby Olympic Nat'l Park for a day. Lots to do in the area and good restaurants. We volunteered at the Olympic Music Festival and able to take in fine performances. Farmer's Markets. It is just a fun little town. Mild temperatures.

Thayne, WY - Star Valley - the area is excellent for biking, fishing, kayaking, river rafting, mountains for drives, hiking, an easy day trip to Jackson or Grand Teton Nat'l Park. The sites in the RV park aren't to our taste as we enjoy public parks much more. However, there are many activities offered including a favorite - pickleball. The weather is great for summer. The park closes in winter.

These are just two of our favorite areas. There are many more in this wonderful country of ours. Travel the secondary highways and you'll find some gems.
