Myrtle Beach with Large 5th Wheel

Hey all, its been a while since I’ve posted. We got ourselves a new Fifth Wheel last year and really enjoying it.

I’m actually curious what campgrounds in Myrtle Beach are best for large rigs, like a 42’ Fiver.

We are looking for a campground right on the beach where we can easily walk from campsite to the beach and back.

Thank you in advance for any feedback from experience!!
  • Honestly. All of the privately owned CGs can handle Big rigs. You just have to tell them what you have, and you will be put on a site that will accommodate you.
For us, we like PirateLand. We have found the sites on the beach to be much larger than the others.
The only one I would caution you about is Apache. Some of the roads there make backing difficult.

OL has long sites, and all pull through, but they are not very wide. Holiday Travel Park has mostly pull through as well. But not as wide as PL.
  • Both state parks in or near MB have spaces large enough for you FW. MBSP has some deep lots that are totally shaded, but a tad longer walk to the beach, but not bad. HBSP has large full service sites, less shade, but close to the beach.
  • Thanks all, we have a weekend at Pirateland booked for mid-May. We’ve been there once, but many years ago with a much smaller camper. I do believe, especially after looking at photos online that Pirateland has larger sites than Ocean Lakes.

    Again, thanks you all!

  • We went to pIrateland alot when our daughter was young in a 27ft tt. Found our favorite spot. We upgraded to a 30 ft Sunny brook and booked our favorite spot but could not get in.. Seems people lock their cars on the corner of their site and disappear. had to call the office and they showed up with a tractor. I unhitched and they placed it in. Now we have a 37ft fiver and there are only a few spots on the beachfront that we would even consider. Loved the place but the rig have gotten larger and its harder to maneuver. As a kid dad used to take us to Myrtle Beach Travel park but DW not interested.
