Newport Rhode Island
My Navy ship's reunion will be held at Newport,RI in September 2021.Are there any good campgrounds nearby that you would recommend?

- I have stayed at Mellville Ponds several years ago. I twas a nice campground north of Newport maybe 10 minutes. I have also stayed at Meadowlark Campground abut 3 miles from Newport in Middletown. Easy in and out but could be unlevel abit. We walked by Paradise Park very close to Meadowlark. Not a big campground at all but very flat.
- 2x on the Navy campground. It's the Carr Point Recreational Area off the Burma Rd at the Melville/Newport line. Absolutely one of the most scenic and private spots in southern New England. As mentioned open to active duty and retired military personel only.
- Fishermans Memorial State Park (Narragansett/Point Judith) about 35 min to Newport. Nice FHU sites... awesome sunsets and priced right.
All necessities are within 15 min (Supermarkets, Seafood, Restaurants, etc) - If you are eligible, or if whoever is putting the reunion together can arrange it, look at the Navy's facility.
