Coming from the East you can hook up with I 84 from I 90 and see the Columbia Gorge. Many great things to see and do, including dams with fish viewing, water falls, Crown Point, Wind Surfers at Hood River, Mt Hood and Mt Adams, short drives from Hood River, several places to Kayak in the area. Beacon Rock on the WA side is core from a Volcano. We like Ainsworth Oregon State Park near Troutdale and and Memmaloose State Park near the Dalles. Both have full service and can be reserved on line. Easily take a few days to see everything in the Gorge.
