We stayed at this park last year in October. It was convenient to the canyon, museum in town, and easy on/off I27. The price was right but the park was not a resort. We would probably stay there again.
There is an rv park right at the turnoff from I-27. Or u can stay down in the park. - D_E_BishopExplorerDon't miss the Petroleum Museum over in town. It is very interesting. Also the town is dry due to the College. In Amarillo is Seizemore's Travel Land, Jack and his son have built a really nice RV museum behind the store and sales lot.
- OldBlackWaterExplorerDon't get concerned when you hear what sounds like a bomb exploding in the canyon at dusk. From what I understand, it's just a black powder cannon that they fire as part of the evening show. I swear I could feel the impact of the sonic wave on my body all the way into the back of the campground.

Thanks folks. State park it will be if possible.
Its going to be HOT,really HOT.Drink a lot of water while doing anything outdoors while there. - rexlionExplorerMy sig picture was taken at Sagebrush in March. I drove all the way to Mesquite for a look around, and it didn't look any better or worse than Sagebrush. All the campgrounds in Palo Duro were nice. If you can stand the heat this time of year...
- jgoldenExplorerThanks folks. State park it will be if possible.
- TyroneandGladysExplorer(Mesquite and Sagebrush camp loops, 50 amp service.) Each site has a table (some with shade shelters), firering, paved parking area, water, and electricity. There is a restroom with showers in the camping loop. Sagebrush is closer to the where the show is put on the Mesquite loop is the farthest of all the camps loops and is quitter.
- terry_thiessenExplorerBe sure to go,to,the play if you are staying at palo duro.
- Johno02ExplorerWould hate to have driven that road the first time after dark. Several places headlights don't work cause there wasn't anything there for them to shine on.
- rbtgloveExplorerHave stayed at the state Park twice and found it very good. Had full hook ups as I remember. There are 3 campgrounds to choose from. Turkeys and deer come around in the evenings. Kind of steep curving road to get in to the campgrounds.
