- catkinsExplorer IIQuartzsite is a fun, quirky place but it is spread put. The big tent can accommodate scooters but I would avoid the first two days of the Big Tent event due to extremely high foot traffic inside. After that, early morning or late afternoon are best lower traffic times.
Vendors for assorted "antiques" and rocks are abound all around town. Across Kuhn St. from the big tent event there are MANY vendors in rows selling things you never knew you needed. All of this including inside the big tent are on mostly level, hard packed desert with the big tent putting down carpet inside. Just be sure your scooter can easily travel aver slightly uneven terrain. Be sure to check out the QIA Pow Wow around the same time as the Big Tent (maybe just before??) for another fun browsing opportunity - inside and outside vendors, lots of rocks, jewelry and arts and crafts (Not Native related at all......)
Quartzsite is a unique experience. Only two small grocery stores/dollar stores in town so I suggest you stock up on most of what you need in advance. Blythe CA 20 miles away is the closest big box grocery Store(Albertsons).
If you plan to stay in a park, get a reservation NOW!! All parks are basically full during the big tent event and usually for all of January. PM me with any questions - we boondocked for 9 years there going elsewhere last season. Enjoy Quirky Quartzsite!
FYI - you can pull into a large parking lot behind the big tent(by the yellow elephant water storage tanks) and drop her off closet to the tent entrance or find parking there if lucky/early enough. - catkinsExplorer IIQuartzsite is a fun, quirky place but it is spread put. They are not cheep but it is convenient and saves our backs. At the traffic signal on 95 S/O the interstate, make a right and then another right they are about 150' up that street. You can see them from 95.
Their phone number is 407-492-2321, email is randysmobilityrentals@gmail.com.
Our first time to "Q" the DW used her wheelchair and I pushed, it was the hardest workout I've ever gotten. Now my back is worse and I can't push or stand for long period of time so we rent. - jplante4Explorer IIMoved from General RVing
- cross21114ExplorerWe were able to park about 100' from the main tent entrance. There were a lot of scooters inside the tent. Agree, camping in the desert is special.

- Ed_GeeExplorer IIAs Chum Lee asks, just what is it she expects to ' experience'? The real Quartzsite experience is boon-docking in the desert. Fill your water and propane tanks and Drive about 6 miles south of Quartzsite to the RoadRunner BLM area where you can camp in the desert for up to two weeks for free. Pick out a nice secluded spot and just enjoy the desert.

X2 We've recently bought one to expand our travels. We transport it with the car which gives us flexibility for where we go. And we have 3 ways to carry it with the car.
Best bet would be to get a mobility scooter for her to get around the various venues. The big tent and the several flea market sites are rather large and require lots of walking. Most scooters can be broken down in to 5-6 easy to manage pieces for transport in a trunk or storage compartment. They take less than 15 minutes to disassemble/assemble.
It will save her hip... - CA_TravelerExplorer IIIShould we assume this is advanced planning for next year? Plan on dropping her off but you might get lucky with a parking spot. Not sure what "not very" means but it's a mini hike around in the big tent and some other areas.
Some parks seem a little better but each of us has different views and we're not there for the normal limited park facilities. We've spent a number of 1 nighters at 88 Shades for our summer travels. And they have a pressure washer and oil change station (both free) if you like.
I can certainly recommend Smiley Als pizza and beer. :C - the_bear_IIExplorerBest bet would be to get a mobility scooter for her to get around the various venues.
