Just wondering if anyone without reservations is planning to RV in Tuscaloosa for the Alabama-Auburn game. Fifteen years ago a visiting team RV'er could travel to any home city in the SEC and find a place to set up. We have traveled to almost all of them. Now it looks like most visitors have been shut out, when it comes to visiting another SEC school. All of the lots seem to be sold out to the home team fans, on an annual basis, leaving nothing for the visitors. There are a few campgrounds around but they also fill up with the home team fans.Maybe this is the future for all SEC teams, but it is sad that you can't follow your team in the RV any longer. LSU fans may have the answer. Last season they invaded Tuscaloosa by the hundreds, leaving local authorities little choice but to search out vacant lots for them. So far, the people from Baton Rouge are the only ones brazen enough to do this. More power to them.

I have no useful info on this, but, man does does it sound fun!

The only teams playing are Alabama and Auburn! Brilliant observation. Must be a Gator fan.I guess my heading didn't really indicate the point I wanted to make. That point being that all schools, especially in the South where RV tailgating is most prevalent, are getting to the point where it is now, almost impossible for RV owners to follow their teams. Mixing and mingling with opposing fans used to be one of the most intriguing parts of the RV tailgating experience, but there is no longer any hospitality offered by any campus for visitors.

Kit Carson, have you tried Farr Park equestrian center there in Baton Rouge? It is only a few miles from campus and stadium. Stayed there a few years ago visiting family in BR. My dad became ill and ended up in hospital. People running the park were great, and very helpful and understanding our situation where we didn't know how long we would stay. Actually ended up leaving on Friday AM prior to Sat home game. When we arrived on Monday, park was practically empty. Friday as we left it was probably slightly better than half full. Park is first come first stay with no reservations, so I am sure by end of day on Friday it was full. We moved motorhome to cousin's driveway off I12 East on Friday, as Dad was expected to get out of hospital on Saturday allowing us to avoid game day traffic.

We live about 35 minutes from Tuscaloosa. For years we would go to most home games. We never RV'd there. Tailgating in the quad was great. These days we just stay at home and watch on TV. Our kids and grands are keeping the tradition of quad tailgateing alive. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!

I stand corrected. A local mall has made a few sites available for Friday and Saturday nights for $300 with no hookups. This lot is located just over two miles from the stadium. WOW!

Absolutely the truth about SEC pricing themselves out of reach for the average fan. LSU ticket prices and RV parking is completely out of my range. When we go, we have to stay in a campground several miles from Baton Rouge. Really, it is better to stay at home but "it is just something about being there".

Mikestock,you can still travel to away games and park a RV..but you have to explore and be creative.....we are Nole fans and do the tailgating in Tally at the Stadium..and also go to almost all the away games...this year...NC State,Louisville,Miami,Dallas..all but BC and only because we got lazy.....can stay at Elks or Moose or Eagles Lodges if you are a member....and most are fairly close to campus....Chuck

We gave up going to Gainesville on game day several years ago (while we were winning)!

The cost and congestion just got to be too much, even for a day trip.

Like Athens, all on campus RV parking is seasonal in Tuscaloosa for around $1000 per 7 game season. Enter at 6 PM on Friday and out Sunday morning. No single game parking is available.

Face values of SEC games are up to $100 but that isn't half of the story. At Alabama you have to be a Tide Pride donor which minimally costs you $415 per ticket. If you want to sit in the area called "The Zone" a donation of $2000 per seat per season is required but free food and drinks are provided. Sky boxes are $40,000/season and up. So, when a scalper offers tickets for $200, somebody took a loss.

But, everything except ticket face value is tax deductible.
