- WiscampsinExplorerWe always stayed at Mirror Lake SP when we visited the Dells when the kids were young. Very close to the attractions but far enough removed so you're not dealing with the lights, noise, and congestion.

Just Google BS. The annual park vehicle sticker is $35 for vehicles with out of state plates, just $10 more than vehicles with Wisconsin plates. Campsites are only $2 more for non-residents. I'd say a pretty good deal considering the amenities that a State park has that an private RV park does not have. Rocky Arbor has electric sites for non-residents for $19. Private campgrounds around the Dells are going to be $10 to $20 more than that.
As a non WI. Resident. You will pay more than a WI. resident in state parks.
Almost Equal to what you will pay at a private park.
Just Google WI. RV parks.
I am an X WI resident.
Wi is only state I have been in that charges for both MH and toad. And charges more for out of state residents.
Minnesota also charge for both the motor home and toad. - bellhullExplorerWe've enjoyed Fox Hill RV Park in the Baraboo/Dells area. It is private, but nice. We have had our motorhome group outing there also.
- dodge_guyExplorer IIOMG, now this is old! intersection of rte. 12 and 23!
The beginning of Fort Dells, this was built to compete with Disney. I`m guessing 1960?
and present day, June 2013. this was taken from the lower right hand corner in the first pic.
Just a bit different!
Who can spot what`s missing in the first (old) pic? other than buildings! - dodge_guyExplorer II

Oh, come on now, there's still the good ol' Tommy Bartlett water show, Clown World Museum (shudders!) and um... yeah, the Ducks. ;)
Here is some vintage Wisconsin Dells
Yep your right! forgot about those! Great link Sue Bee! thanks
How about an old video! Fort Dells and Totem tower! - Sue_BeeExplorerOh, come on now, there's still the good ol' Tommy Bartlett water show, Clown World Museum (shudders!) and um... yeah, the Ducks. ;)
Here is some vintage Wisconsin Dells - dodge_guyExplorer IIThe "Dells" are called that because of the town "Wisconsin Dells". Lake Delton is the town next to it and is also just as big and popular as the Dells. Lots of choices for the area! most don`t have the large open sites the OP is asking for. they are smaller sites to allow for more people. You don`t go to the Dells to get away from people. you go there for the water parks!!!! the only thing left of the original Dells is the actual Dells seen from a Duck (Land or River) and if you have to ask what a Duck is then you need to visit the area!!! The original Dells was gone in the late 70`s when the water parks came in, it slowly became a tourist trap in the 80`s and is now a major tourist destination! search You Tube and you`ll find some home videos from there in the 60`s and 70`s, you can see the change from then to now. I remember Fort Dells on the corner of 12 and 23. there is now a Walgreens in it`s place. the old moat for the paddle boat is still back there. the stage coach used to come down from the hill back there, great memories!
BTW, we still try and visit every other year! - sgrizzleExplorerHere is a dumb question...is the Dells a town or region? If a region, what towns should we be looking to try and be close to?
Thanks! This is great info! - EsoxLuciusExplorer

Then I guess you haven't been to many other states. Wisconsin charges for a windshield sticker for entry of vehicles, no matter if they are towed or driven into the park. There are several other states that do the same. There are at least 30 states that charge more for out of state vehicles. If one does not wish to enjoy Wisconsin state parks they do not have to use them. But if you do, the more you use them in a year the more cost effective that becomes.

Devil's Lake State Park is about 25 min. away but an easy trip. Very nice state park with great scenery, hiking and swim/canoe lake. One of our all time favs! Book early, very large park but fills up fast.
