This is our 12th season in the RGV. Crime against Winter Texans is nearly non existent. In checking crime stats for various cities Most Florida cities have a higher violent crime rate than the RGV.
Yes, A quick google search confirmed this actually!
And that statement is all relevant and skewed. Crime as mentioned above is usually located in low income inner city situations. Is, has been and always will be.
For the comparison with Florida. There's no RV resorts inside or really even close to a big inner city. Just like you won't find any CG's on the South Side of Chicago.:W
That all said the RGV is totally different than Florida because the CG's are all close to varies towns all along the coast and very close to Mexico on one end. Don't think you can even come close to comparing that to the vast amount and distributed CG's/Resorts in Florida. Just saying. Do a search on the forum and read from RV'ers that have had problems staying near Mexico and the surrounding CG's.
I waited a long time to retire, Damned if I am going to stay anywhere near Mexico or CG's adjacent to it. Or ANYWHERE where there is even a hint of any type of crime in the CG or around it. Life's too short to even have to think about it let alone park my RV within it.Over the years I've read enough posts about experiences in the RGV that for speaking for myself only, I choose not to make the trip there.:C
