San Diego camping/RV park

We had planned on staying at Chula Vista RV Resort in Feb ‘19. Unfortunately, they are closing and we are now looking for a new place to stay and explore San Diego. We are retirees, no pets, with a 26 ft travel trailer. We are looking for a location with easy access to explore San Diego. WiFi would be nice, but not required. We plan to spend most of our week long stay exploring the city, and surrounding areas so entertainment/ activities in the campground are not required. Clean facilities are a high priority. Looking for suggestions for campground/RV Park that will provide a great base for 1 week as we enjoying the Southern California experience. Thanks for your help!
  • KOA is very nice. Large park, friendly staff.

Campland on the bay while a popular location is a dirty dump.

Mission Bay RV Resort is clean but its just a parking lot with narrow spots.

San Diego RV Resort has very tight spots and one way roads. Have to ask manager to open gate onto side street to get out.

Escondido RV Resort has 2 areas. Lower level has tight crowded spots and many full timers. Upper level is newer, nice big wide spots and very clean. San Diego Safari park is nearby.

Further to the north in Temecula is Pechanga RV Resort. Very nice, wide streets, large spots and very clean. One of the nicest RV parks I've stayed at. Casino is next door. Numerous wineries are nearby. 25 miles to Safari park, 55 miles to San Diego.
  • We checked out Santee Lakes and are dissatisfied with the dirt pads and lakes you can't use for anything but looking at. Plus it's hot there while it's much cooler at the beach.

I also have stayed at KOA SanDiego many times, a very nice park WiFi was decent, and close to all the attractions.

Be sure and ask if the price reflects a lease, purchase or daily rental fee:):):):)
  • Being that you're looking at February, you may be able to get in at some of the state parks along the beach. South Carlsbad comes to mind. There is another one but I can't remember the name. Can't go wrong with Santee Lakes either.

  • Use the"Good Sam Finding RV Parks" application to help you find a RV Park in the San Diego area.
