- gasguzlerExplorerLast winter my wife and i had our two Honda Ruckus sitting outside our RV, I had a combination cable lock on them and we had no trouble. we were in a gated RV park, we are going back again this year and taking the Ruck's with us again. They are dead quiet and no one is bothered by them. When we go somewhere we just cable them together when they are parked outside and go inside to shop or eat. No troubles ever. this is near Titusville/Daytona Beach areas. We have had them on the beach in Daytona Beach and we park them and cable lock them to a post and walk the beach or walk out on the pier for a meal, never had a problem.

twotoes, it depends on the state. The property is PRIVATE and the government does NOT maintain the streets, then in most states they can deny the use of any specific motor vehicle on their "private" streets. Also, there are some states that do allow the use of deadly force to protect ones property.
I have a toy hauler and take my Harley with me. Harley Davidson has a great chain and lock you can purchase. Regarding parks not allowing a scooter. If it's registured for the street they can't legaly not let you drive it. The park can make an issue if like some motorcycles it's too loud and violates noise rules. Regarding being retired LEO and carry a gun everywhere. I too carry but I know you can not use a gun to protect property that would be excessive force. You can ONLY use a gun to protect your self or some one else from bodily harm. - twotoesExplorerI have a toy hauler and take my Harley with me. Come on down and enjoy our wonderful and diverse state.
There is a lot to see,and the state changes dramatically from north to south and also from coastal to inland. - colliehaulerExplorer III

That's not very reassuring right now as there is a post of a person having their trailer stolen in Olathe KS. :E
colliehauler: I dare say that I have a little more experience with SW Florida than someone that just visited there.
I not only camped there,
I lived there for my entire adult life. (35 years)
Naples Florida in Southwest Florida is my hometown.
Take normal precautions but don't over think this.
SW Florida has a burglary rate not much higher than Kansas.
Don't believe me, review the crime rates yourself at the U.S. Department Of Justice: Link
Glad to know it's not a major problem. And yes I believe you. - Dog_FolksExplorer

they go after the out-of-staters. :B - Francesca_KnowlExplorer

In all fairness I have not been to Southern Florida. I have to rely on info from people who have.colliehauler wrote:
I have bought an alarm with a pager and will use a chain and lock to the trailer tongue. My bedroom is at the front of the trailer and the Collies would let me know if anyone was outside.
I have read about theft in southern Florida and hope northern Florida is not as bad.
Thanks to all that took the time to reply.
As a Floridian I must protest: Don't believe everything you read.
Of course certain areas of large metro areas have high crime areas but not the entire southern part of the state!
I have camped in SW Florida for over 30 years and NEVER had even one item stolen by humans.
Now raccoons, they are another story for another time.
