Snowbird in Fla

Any west coast waterfront ideas near a city with airport service. Thinking about January through March

Thanks!
  • Seconding intracoastal waterways as a more affordable option. Vamo and Osprey are quieter areas, Bradenton and Sarasota are more populated. You would get more useful info if you let us know how populated or how expensive that you want to pursue.

The Sarasota airport is easy to access and much, much less crowded than Tampa.
( I live closer to Tampa, but preferred Sarasota for business travel) .
If you want waterfront ( more or less) , look into Buttonwood Inlet and/or Holiday Cove , both in Cortez. They are on a canal, but it's a short walk or drive to the Ana Maria beaches.
  • Most coastal cities have air service. Sometimes through Tampa or Orlando, but we HAVE heard of airports. You are talking about Southwest Florida, not Southwest Cambodia.
  • Define waterfront? A view of the Gulf is few and far between and are $100+ a night; Red Coconut in Ft Myers is one. Inshore waters or being a few miles from the beach open up the options quite a bit.
  • Ah looking for a cg to be in preferably waterfront 1-2 months on the west coast. Any good recommendations?
  • Crabbypatty, I am curious of the responses you get, as I have been considering getting a site for the winter months in Fla as well. I am not at a point in my life that I can spend the whole winter down there, but I figured it would not get use up here during the winter, so may as well find an inexpensive park to put it in dry storage and have it brought to a site when you know you can go down. I preferred waterfront as well, either East or West. Good luck in your search.
  • If you are looking for a park, we stayed at Siesta Bay RV Resort in Ft. Myers Beach last winter. About 3 miles from the beach and just before the Sanibel Island bridge. Ft. Myers has an international airport.
  • What are your interests? There are plenty of eateries in the area.
    Busch Gardens in Tampa
Ringling Brothers Art Museum and circus in Sarasota
Old Greek community with sponge divers in Tarpon Springs
Amish Community of Pinecraft in Sarasota
    Beaches and more beaches
    Fishing
    Historic communities
    Naval Air Museum in Pensacola

Those are just a few that come to mind quickly
