- Probably not!
- majorgatorExplorerIf you're going during a weekday, I wouldn't buy advanced tickets...but a phone call to their office could probably clear a lot of this up for you.
A word of wisdom, if it's a foggy, dreary day, then don't waste your time. Nothing like riding up a cramped tram car only to get up there and see the top of the fog and nothing else. And BTW, if you're not good in tiny spaces, better skip this attraction. - PadlinExplorerThanks Majorgator, the weather was why I didn't want to get tickets ahead of time. Hadn't thought of fog though.
- JJnLillyExplorerCouple of years ago we were there on a Wednesday in late August. We had to 'wait' a bit for the next tram but time spent in the museum is worth it.
- DannyAExplorerWe were there a couple of weeks ago, lots of construction going on.
Tickets are sold at the old court house across the street now, but think there is a tiny place close to the Arch you can still buy them. Don't see any need to buy advance tickets.
Being up in the Arch is a great experience. - dewey02Explorer IIMany people just ride the arch ride and miss out on the real purpose of the Gateway Arch - as in Gateway to the West - it symbolizes the Westward expansion of the country. There is a GREAT museum in the basement of the arch (where you board the arch ride).
The tickets are issued with a time stamp on them, and you get in line at the designated time. You can spend the waiting time perusing the museum and you will not have wasted your time at all. We found the museum to be a far more satisfying experience than the arch ride, although the arch itself is pretty cool. Be sure to see the couple of movies about how the arch was constructed - an engineering marvel. There used to be a poster which showed the St. Louis Arch was really just a huge wire coat hanger with 2/3 buried underground, leaving the one end above ground as the arch. - hotpepperkidExplorerI think the time for your tram is on the ticket. It will take you an hour or so to tour the museum anyway so the wait time isn't wasted
