St. Louis-- Need Some Advice

We are planning to drive by St. Louis on our summer trip, and I want to go to the City Museum, which I understand is downtown. We have a 28ft Class C, and no toad. It seems to me we have 3 options:

1) Find a place to stay near the city, rent a car for the day, and drive downtown for the museum. Maybe we could even stay a couple of days, who knows, since if we had a rental car, it would be easy to get around the city.

2) Park the RV near public transportation (Metrolink?) and take public transportation to the museum.

3) Be really brave and just drive into the city, and look for a parking lot that will accommodate an RV.

We drove to the St. Louis Zoo a few years back in the RV, and that worked okay as I recall. But they had a large parking lot.

Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!
