We are planning to drive by St. Louis on our summer trip, and I want to go to the City Museum, which I understand is downtown. We have a 28ft Class C, and no toad. It seems to me we have 3 options:1) Find a place to stay near the city, rent a car for the day, and drive downtown for the museum. Maybe we could even stay a couple of days, who knows, since if we had a rental car, it would be easy to get around the city.2) Park the RV near public transportation (Metrolink?) and take public transportation to the museum.3) Be really brave and just drive into the city, and look for a parking lot that will accommodate an RV.We drove to the St. Louis Zoo a few years back in the RV, and that worked okay as I recall. But they had a large parking lot.Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!

City museum has their own parking lot, and there's another independent lot across the street. The one across the street, at least, looks to me as though it should be able to accommodate an RV—they have some end-to-end slots. The City Museum lot itself is largely underground, I believe, so probably can't work for an RV.The St Louis RV Park is about a fifteen minute walk away. It's without a doubt one of those RV parks that trades convenience of location for excellence of ambiance—think a parking lot with pedestals and a pool in the corner.

St. Louis is a fabulous city to visit with a lot of free entertainment (though the City Museum itself isn't free), so I would vote for Option 1. I think I would be nervous leaving the RV on a lot near the Metrolink, and I think you could have a hard time parking it near City Museum since it's in a downtown area, like you noted. If you decide to spend a couple of days, the Forest Park area is a great place to explore, with the zoo, the science center, and the art museum, as well as other interesting little places. It's fun to see the Arch in person and walk along the riverfront area. It is also fun to ride to the top, for a fee. There's a neat sculpture park called Laumeier Sculpture Park, as well as the City Garden, which is another cool park that's fun to explore. You will LOVE City Museum.As you can tell, we love St. Louis. I grew up there but now live in Springfield. We make frequent trips back just because there is so much to see and do.

Stay a few nights at the Casino Queen RV Park and enjoy the city. They have a shuttle to the Metro.

The Casino Queen RV park is in E.STL,Ill, also a high crime area, however, it is secure & there is a shuttle to the metro link nearby. I live & work in the area, I don't recommend doing to much walking about.

The St. Louis RV Park is a great place to stay while seeing everything in the city, like everyone says it's a parking lot with hookups but it's fenced in, nice folks running it, decent shower room. The area is safe enough, basically an industrial/commercial section with mostly newer businesses and a police station across the street. We've stayed there a couple of times and I was never worried walking the dogs in the area around the park. City Museum is a blast, really has to be experienced, hard to explain until you've been there. Tons of other stuff to do as well, all the museums in Forest Park, the Arch, Anheusier-Busch tour, Six Flags. Getting an Enterprise car would work well, beats trying to maneuver an RV in city traffic. Have fun!

Babler State Park is near Chesterfield. Good place to stay although only electric hook ups.

WeLove2Drive-- LOL! No kidding, I was just about to say, you guys have sold me on staying for several days. I was definitely thinking of Enterprise as the "pick us up" people-- they've done that when we were stuck at a Ford dealer while our previous RV was in need of repairs on the road. As for exploring St. Louis, I would love it! You all have given me some great ideas. What are your other fave places to check out in and around the city?

We are from the metro east and I think ditto to what step side said. Enterprise sounds like a good idea. If you stay in St. Charles you could take the Grafton ferry across the Mississippi river to Grafton! The Aries winery has the best view. Flea market on 4th weekend of month all summer.Main St.in St. Charles is full of shops, bars, eats, casino, Bass Pro, etc. There is wine country southwest of St. Charles on state route 94. So how long are you staying? :-)

Should you decide to stay an day or two, Sundemeiers RV Park in St Charles is a nice and convenient place to stay if you rent a car. Very clean and friendly. Right on the KATY bike trail and close to historic downtown St Charles Mo.

I've had good luck with Enterprise car rentals a couple times. Even though our B will fit about anywhere (except for height...), there are times I'd rather just leave it safely in the CG and take a rental in to a city (Vegas, for instance...). Their ad - "we'll pick you up" is true - they've come right to the CG, give you a lift back to the office where you do the paperwork and pick up your rental. Weekend rates are often cheaper, since much of a rental companies business is based on business travelers, hence mid-week. ST
