Have any of you that are in or have been in that area been to the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum?

If you have, isn't that Submarine next to the Intrepid something to see?

If you are going to visit the USS Growler SSG 577, look on the crew rooster for David E. Bishop, aka on RV.NET as d.e.bishop. You may even hear my dulcid tones in the Oral History playing in the kiosk.

OK. Sorry guys! Iโ€™ve been busy site seeing and dealing with ignorant people, sadly most of which are U.S. citizens!!!

Here is our site. Not too bad except the guy in the 5โ€™er parked at an angle and was 5 feet into my site. Yes it is tight. But manageable.

The area is pretty decent! A short walk to the path train which takes you to either the 911 memorial or 33st at Macyโ€™s and a little bit of a walk to Times Square.

Yes Lady Liberty is still in the same spot she has been in since she was erected! And she was still in the same position as when I got here on Thursday. I canโ€™t imagine sheโ€™s animatronic except if you watch Ghostbusters 2. Iโ€™ll get some pictures soon.

It's been several years since we were at Liberty Harbor RV Park, but Lady Liberty was standing right outside our doorway. You can leave your RV, be at the train station in less than 10 minutes and into the World Trade Center or Times Square (34th St) in less than 30 minutes. It was a remarkable place to stay.

And while youโ€™re at it, how about posting a few pictures of the area including the view from your trailer. I have only been there during the day when riding my mountain bike since I live about 15 miles from there

So dodge guy, since you are right there first hand-up-front-and-personal, how about a report? Did Lady Liberty get up and walk around last night, move from Island to Island? Or has the Island itself somehow drifted with the tide? :S (It's simply bizarre what some folks put on YouTube.)

Here are some excellent posts on Liberty Harbor RV with lots of photos and directions on how to get there along with siteseeing. They had a 40' motorhome.

Funny! Iโ€™m at Liberty Harbor right now! Yes itโ€™s a trick to get to! Yes they are tight sites! Yes it is pricey! But seeing the sky line and Lady Liberty from my site are priceless! I highly recommend it. Nice bar within a very short walk. And the train to NYC is a 5 block walk. The Ferry to lower Manhattan is right from the campground. And a short walk to the ferry that takes you Liberty State Park. A perfect place to stay this close to NYC.

I would look at Croton-on-Hudson. Nice county park, full hookups, walking distance to train that goes right to the city. It is located in westchester county, just outside of the city.
Park name is croton point campground.

You don't go to NYC for the wild open spaces. Liberty Harbor does the trick nicely. We stayed for a couple weeks in our boat and very convenient to the statue along with the rest of the city. The RV sites were perfectly acceptable for the purpose.

Liberty Harbor RV Park is the only place to go with your RV anywhere near the city. Just a parking lot with hookups, but it is very convenient. Very close to public transport into NYC or anywhere else in the area.

Floyd Bennett Field, part of Gateway National Recreation Area, is not just close to the city but actually in Brooklyn, and offers dry camping (and a dump station) for RVs as well as some pretty nice looking tent sites. There is a bus that runs to the entrance to the park, though not to the campground area specifically. Getting there with an RV is a bit of an adventure, and it would certainly not be as convenient as Liberty Harbor for seeing the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island specifically. For seeing New York City more generally, though, it can be a valid option for some people, such as yours truly.

NY claims it even though it's on the Jersey side of the river.

Just like Giants Stadium. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It did move, years ago that island was in NJ, now they say it's in NY.
