USA RV Park in Gallup, NM Our Rating

On 9/3/14 we pulled into USA RV Park in Gallup, NM with reservations for 4 nights. The Good Sam rating for this park was excellent and we have trusted that in the past, so we thought there would be no problem. Only thing is that Good Sam only rates the condition and amenities of the facilities and not the enjoyment of your stay, which is subjective anyway. We RV during the entire summer each year and have stayed at many parks, good and bad. This park is one that we will not visit again for the following reasons: The park is located on Old Historic Highway 66, and despite the fact that most of that old highway is non-functioning anymore, it is heavily traveled in Gallup, NM. There is major train travel in close proximity to the park and this occurs both day and night, with whistles blaring. Also, the park is located very close to the end of the runway of Gallup Municipal Airport and planes take off right over your unit. Aside from those factors, the sites are very tight and we could have reached out our sofa slide and touched the coach parked next to us. There is no privacy whatsoever and the noise factor caused us to turn on our roof fan at night to muffle the noise. You will not get a good night's sleep here. We were to have stayed for 4 days, but we cut it short to only 2 days because of the problems we were experiencing. There was very little to no shade here also. We had a medium sized tree next to us, but most of the park is barren of shade. The pool, which was filled and looked very nice was closed to patrons. No explanation was given at check in about the pool. Overall an unpleasant experience.
