What are best Food Joints in Texas?

We thought we would try Rudy's in McAllen tonight. What a waste of $30. The smoked baby back ribs had no smoke flavor. Tender but tasted like boar meat. The wife's brisket had plenty of smoke flavor but very dry. Their sissy sauce was to spicy for the wife but I managed to eat some. Brought remainder of ribs home so we could try to salvage them by using a good sauce on them. The food was actually worse than Texas Pride in San Antonio. Up till now that was the worst BBQ that I had ever tasted.

I am going to make a bold post in this thread....

If you want GREAT BBQ - forget every other BBQ place mentioned in this thread...

There is a large German hotel/restaurant on the western edge of town where 290 and 87 split. You can't miss it. I don't know how good it is. We stayed at the hotel but ate elsewhere that day. I can say we were not impressed with the hotel and would not return.

If you get to Fredricksberg drive about 30 miles north to Llano and try Coopers BBQ. It's a unique experience.

Bill Miller BBQ is a small chain based out of San Antonio. Very good and reasonable.

Just returned from Delia's. Excellent tamales. That's all they sell. Four locations in RGV.
