Where to go?

We stay at the KOA on S.PDre Is.,Tx Jan thu MArch. Warmer than AZ OR NM.
Cheaper than FL. and less traffic.
.never any problem with the.border.

If you want adventure make south or southwest Fla. your destiation in the coldest months Jan & Feb. and come March start heading north by the time spring comes you will be at the Ga. border. You do have to plan as we many visitors in the winer. Bring your sunscreen.

Sorry, but I don't have any Florida recommendations, largely because we will be heading to Rockport, Tx. We've been down there a few times and just loved it so much that we have a small lot to put the RV on, so we won't be at an RV park. We're really not too much into the activities that are ususally provided at a lot of your parks, but rather prefer to create our own, i.e. long walks on the beach, sight seeing, etc.

Thought I'd chime in as long as you're not far up the road from us. The main thing is enjoy whatever your decision. Life's too damn short!!

Thank you so much everyone, for all of your comments. It sounds like no matter where we go, we will find a large variety of activities and things to do/see.

I think we are going to stick with the East Coast this year and head to mid-Florida. I have found a few places that sound promising. For us, fitness center and those activities are a must. It is such fun to look at all the various RV Parks' websites and to read the comments. (did I mention overwhelming?!)

So send your Florida recommendations our way!

You do not have to worry about us lightening up as we are quite content with our RGV choice and hope that everyone finds a place that THEY feel is the best because that is half of the game.

One should keep in mind: "Frosty nights in Florida..." generally refer to areas north of Lake Okeechobee. They are a rarity between Fort Myers and Naples. We had maybe two or three in the last two years -- none this season! And, our strongest wind (one day about a month ago) was hardly more than what RV'ers experience every day in parts of the RGV.

We winter near Yuma AZ about 1 mile from the border. Our resort is crime free. Being near the border is NO problem.

Frosty nights in Florida are a learning curve for a Midwestern.

The first winter I spent here the weather man predicted temps in the 30's for the night. Come evening I battened down the MH putting up insulation on all the windows so I didn't get cold. Settled down to watch TV and was sweating it was so warm. :?

Well the difference is up North the minute the sun goes down so does the temps.

In Florida a predicted low of 30's for the night means that around 3 or 4 in the morning the temps go down AND as soon as the sun rises its back up to the 70's! So you have a whole whopping 3 hours of cold temperatures. :R

Ya, I think I can live with that for a snowbird destination.:C
