Yosemite - Lower Pines

Looking at spending a few nights in Yosemite in late May. On the reservation site for the Lower Pines campground some sites are reserved, and most show a status of "not yet released". Anyone know what's up with that?

Also, since that park has no electricity: Do they allow generators at all?

TIA, and Happy camping!
  • Yosemite has very high demand for realtively few RV spaces. They have a system for popular campgrounds like Lower Pines where they release a group of campsites at a time over several weeks. It gives more people more chances to get a space. If I ever go there it will be in winter.
  • We camped in Lower Pines ~space52~ a few years ago. Beautiful site. YES we used our generator.

    JM2¢ ~~ YMMV
  • Not certain, but I know they keep some sites from being reserved if they are on the flood plain for the river. Once the threat of flooding is past then they open the sites. It happened in June for us and we grabbed a site for an extra 5 days.
