I'd like to install some LED lights under our awning. Has anyone done this? There are a number of aftermarket products available. Which ones did you use? How did you feed power? Anyone have pics of the install?

Thanks!

I also bought off ebay the waterproof ones and did like George3037 by using rubbing alcohol first then put a dab of caulk on the ends. I ran the cord down the awning arm, there is a plastic piece that pops off that already hides the cord for the power awning, then just ran some wires directly to the battery with a fuse. I have had them on now for about 5-6 yrs

x3 except I went through the wall into the cabinet inside and to power. They make wireless remotes which is very handy. Since they're already 12v its easy peasy.

I also bought a 16' roll of waterproof LED strip off Ebay. Used rubbing alcohol to wipe down the trailer surface under the awning then peeled off the tape and stuck the strip to the camper. I added a dab of white silicone about every foot just in case the tape didn't hold. I removed the outside amber light by the door and found the wiring with a good sized hole behind it. Drilled a small hole about 6" above the hole for the LED light wires and fished the LED leads down inside the trailer skin and tapped into the amber light wiring. I then siliconed the drilled hole, reinstalled the amber light and ran a bead around that to reseal it.

They have only been installed about 6 months but no problems so far.

Beware of the cheep Chinese sticky backed ones, as I had them corroded within a year and a half.

I now have the same units, but in a silicone tube and sealed ends. Working fine fir 2 years.

I bought some off Ebay for $18. Cut them to length needed. They had sticky tape on back of them, so just peel & stick. Routed wire to them from battery power. Look nice & work well.
