Any DIY suggestions for under bed desk?

Please feel free to move this post if I put it in the wrong forum.

We are getting a new 5th wheel and are thinking about building a desk like this:

However, I would like to rig it so that it comes OUT (I.e., extends over the edge of the bed frame) when the bed is raised. I think it could be done with spring-loaded legs and/or hinges.

I'm wondering if you guys have suggestions?

Edit: The bed is not in a slide so we don't have to worry about that. I envision it extending almost like a drawer when the bed is raised.

Thanks

Are those just folding tables sitting in the bed area? Are those tables attached to anything?

put
heavy duty 24" drawer slides between the lift section and the top

open bed, raise desk, slide it out, use a locking pin to keep it from moving
to store it
remove pin, slide in, then push down to storage position
I can explain it to you.
But I Can Not understand it for you !

If you want the edge to come out a ways, you could use drawer slides screwed into the side of a board. Plywood would not work well for this -- side grain on ply is not very strong. It would have to be something like two pieces of 1 x 12 edge glued.

Why not just put the table on the bed? I'd cut the back two legs off and let the matress support the rear. That way the matress doesn't fall down while you're on the phone and you could pull the table out some so your feet fit under it. I might store it under the bed.

You know they do make laptops? 😉

I'm getting older and am starting to consider the time it takes to design and build something, as opposed to just setting something up each time. In other words, if I can set something up in a minute or two and it would take me a day and a half to design and build something, it doesn't seem worth the effort. I just do the 2 minute thing.
