Horn+High Beams=Better horn

I would sure hate to be driving the other way when you honk your horn at someone else and be blinded by your high beams. I realize you want to get someone's attention, but inadvertently blinding others with high beams would probably get folks a bit upset with you, and you thought your only problem was warning someone else.

I prefer my train horns. But a simple relay would do the trick.

I haven't done it but the project would be simple. If your vehicle already uses a horn relay just run a wire from the horn relay to the desired headlight circuit.

Personally, I think this is a great idea.

As far as the legality, I'd be surprised if any garage would ever even noticed it during an inspection but it certainly wouldn't be very hard to wire it up with a on / off switch (i.e. 'ON' means when you press the horn, you get horn+high beam, 'OFF' is just normal, press horn, get horn) and then you'd just have to switch it to OFF when doing inspection.

Real train horns would work better!

I can't remember ever using my horn for anything other than "hey, the light's green!"

I still feel that I lost my best attention getter when I got a car with anti-lock brakes.
Nothing says "Oh 5h1t" like the burn of the tires of the guy you just pulled out in front of.....

HIDs are definitely NOT suitable for this. They have a warm up period where they are dim. 100 watt halogens would be more like it.
