I installed an electric fireplace in our Avenger 27RLS this weekend. I placed it in the entertainment cabinet under the TV/Stereo.

Be careful with the double ended male cord. Known as a suicide cord. Someone who doesn't know better could kill themselves. They make power INLET boxes for just that application.

Someone had to say it... nice work otherwise.

this is the fireplace that I bought, the reviews were good, and the price of 149.99 was hard to beat.

GMM, thanks for the explanation, that is exactly how I am thinking of doing ours. We have an outlet close by that is on a 20 amp circuit and an unused 2nd AC circuit I could use if I wanted to run it through the trailers 110 side but would rather do as you did. Which make of fireplace did you go with? Again, nice work!

Ours, factory installed Dimplex, Allegro 36LA, has return air at the bottom and exhales at the top.

Very nice work.

Old Duck, I actually have the fireplace set up so it can be pluged into an external source, from the camper. I installed an outlet in side tha cabinet, wired with 12gauge romex 3-strand wire. I ran the wire through the enclosed belly of the trailer to come out below the trailers power cord and installed a second outlet(GFCI) enclosed in a waterproof power box.I have a 10 gauge power cord with 2 male ends that connect to the power pedestal and the external fireplace connection.
I ran the fireplace/heater for an hour this weekend and there were NO hot connections anywhere, and no CFCI trips.

Nice work, I like how you used the simulated brick panels for its trim. We are looking to do the same so am curious if your unit runs on 15 amp and if you have it plugged into its own circuit.

We walked though a lot of campers with fireplaces in them and I noticed that none of them had a cool air intake on them(that I could see). I know my cabinet had that BIG hole in the wall, but I wanted the fire place to draw cool air from the living space, not from the under belly of the trailer. I covered that hole before I set the insert in place and made the intake under the the fireplace. I think the heater and wiring will be safer.

They certainly give a very nice visual display. I think you will find it very nice to have warming up your feet first thing in the mornings. I would only run the electric heater lower than full setting. Those are prone to melt your wiring .

You can run the visual display with having the electric heater running which is a good idea as well...

I saw one recently where the owner had a fire burning display on his large TV setup. That worked too haha... warnm and Cozy...
