That happened to me. The top rivet broke on one side as I was going down on the steps. We had the heavy duty steps like the ones pictured. However they were about 11 or 12 years old when it happened while were were snowbirding in Florida. I replaced my steps with the Glow Step Revolution from TorkLift. They are rock solid and work very well. :)
