led light strip

I too mounted my LED strip where the awning meets the camper. But I drilled a hole in the side of the trailer at the end of the light strip. Reason being, on the other side of the hole is where my radio/cdplayer is mounted, as well as where the TV plugs in. There is a shelfe for a DVD player and I have an open outlet. I simply ran the wires through the hole and plugged it in. The LED has a remote, and like many LED sets, have 50 colors to choose from as well as various blinking patterns.

The hole was only 1/2" in diameter sealed with white caulk, hardly noticeable.
Well worth not having to fool around with awning lights and having extension cords all over. im somewhat of a neat freak and don't like a bunch of wires running around. best upgrade i ever did!

I ran mine under the metal strip where the awning meets the trailer. Then I ran the power cord on the inside of the awning arm. Mine is an electric awning and there is a plastic piece that just pops off that covers the cord for the awning. I have it just sticking out below the awning arm.

I have a storage spot right next to it so I then ran a fused cord to the battery so when hooking it all up I just plug in the module to the piece sticking out and then the power cord from the storage.

I installed mine just under the awning. I ran the wire into the vent from the refrigerator and spliced it into 12 volts inside the grill cover.

similar to these guys I mounted mine 2" under the awning attached with outdoor mounting tape. I used 1" tape but had to cut it down..half inch or 3/4" would've been better. I bought extra wire (Extra wire) then used white conduit (wire conduit) ran down next to the awning and into the basement area. I took power off of one of my basement lights so it would act just like the basement light whether hooked to shore power or on battery. Not nearly as difficult as you would think it is to do. I took my time and made sure the install looked professional and it does. I would recommend you search around and find an RF remote for the lights instead of IR remote. RF doesn't have to be line of sight like IR so you can mount it inside the camper out of sight. I found my kit on ebay for about $30 (RF LED kit) and it came with 2 rolls of lights even though I just used 1.

I understand your concern about drilling through the sidewall of your rv. I could not do it. Instead I wired my led lights to the patio light which is located under the awning. The led lights I installed under the awning as well. I can then turn on the led lights with the patio light switch located inside the coach. So far it has worked quite well.

I drilled and sealed my power/remote wires and mounted the controller inside. I eliminated the power supply and run straight from the 12v outlet on the cable outlet. Lot's of light! Love ours. We usually put the led's on fade color to color for an ever changing environment. If we have other campers near by, we lower the brightness as to not flood their space with our lights.

I just used the adhesive that was on the LED light set and installed it 1-2 inches below the awning. It has lasted over 5000 miles so far. I ran the power supply down the inside of the power awning track. There was already a plastic conduit to cover the power for the awning. I just ran my wire beside it and then underneath to the battery.

I did the same as RobWNY only I put my strip just under the lip that the awning slides into. Ran the power strip down the awning leg held on with velcro tie wrap. You can also buy a remote control unit that lets you dim the lights. I also put a line of blue LED lights on a dimmer under the body on the right side also remote controlled. Lights are held on with 3M outside double sided tape.

I installed an LED light strip under the awning of my Travel Trailer just below where the awning is when rolled up. It looks fantastic. I didn't drill any holes. I ran an LED extension cable that the company where I bought my LED light strip sells for $8 down the vertical awning track and attach the transformer box to the Travel Trailer frame with velcro. It keeps it out of the rain and hidden from view. I plug the end into the outside outlet and use the remote to change colors and brightness. When it's time to leave, I just unplug the outlet and the LED strip and I'm on my way. It takes me all of 2 minutes to set up and take down and there are no ladders involved.

on my fifthwheel, dometic installed it at the very beginning of the fabric, closest to the wall, my power comes from wires that feed the power awning. do not know if that helps, but me I would pay the 100, me falling off the ladder or drilling in my RV at the wrong place just is not worth it.
