Liquid Rubber instead of Liquid RV Roof?

Good to know. This pretty significant roof repair job has done a number on our budget. Supposedly it was fixed by PO, everyone knows how that goes. Will use latex for now and keep an eye on it. Thank you!

Paint will not stick to the liquid rubber, which is EPDM. You will have to top coat it with a primer and topcoat made for EPDM, which may eat up the savings.

Ah, yes my apologies I should have noted that we will absolutely paint it white!!

I'd clean the heck out of the roof, coat it with that liquid rubber, and then finish with a coat of elastomeric roof paint in white. I painted my aluminum roof white and it instantly dropped the cabin temperature 10 degrees.

BTW, if you're treating the whole roof, it's a good time to remove all the nasty caulk and seal everything with Eternabond tapes. I tried the tape and it made me a believer, the stuff just sits there and seals anything I put it on. No more sealing maintenance.

It would turn the inside into a sauna on any day with the sun out. If you camp mostly winter maybe but any summer it would be horrible! We have a black roof here at work and the difference to the section that is white is amazing! The white reflects and you can work on it where the black get's so hot it is unbearable. These are EPDM roof also

The firm that sold the EDPM liquid roof that I bought 4 years ago also sold liquid rubber. The manufacturer stated that they were basically the same thing except for the fact that the liquid roof carried a 5 year warranty.

Considering your camper is 23 years old, I'd say it's probably time to think about a re-coat. If a re-coat of the liquid rubber will save the roof for another 5 - 10 years, I think it would be well worth it.

I can't say I've ever seen a black roof on an RV though.
