Used the lights for the first time last weekend while camping over memorial weekend. Probably influenced the sale of 3 sets to my buddies. They all loved them and wanted all the info on where I got them and how I mounted/wired them. Worked great. I can see me using exactly 2 colors. Orange around camp and white during the winter when I'm bow hunting and needing light around camp. I love the remote feature because during bow season I get back to the camper after dark and always have to go around and light the lanterns or carry a flashlight around when I first get there. Now I can just carry the remote in the truck and turn them on when I pull into camp.

got my lights installed yesterday. I'll try to get out and get some pics of the install today and post up. Fairly happy with the install.....as usual there are a few things I could've done better but for the most part it looks pretty decent. Lights and remote work great. I used white plastic conduit to bring the wire down. I wanted to use the channel in the awning to run the wire but the near side has the wire for the power awning and to get the wire across to the unused channel I would've had to either notch the awning or drill all the way through 1 side. Didn't really want to do that. Drilled through the camper to get the wires inside and then jumped power off of a basement light so now it'll act the same way the basement light does whether on shore power or battery. I notice the rf controller has a power light that stays on all the time....kinda wondering how much draw that's going to be on the battery when I'm boon docking. I always have a gen with me so it's not like I'm ever solely dependent on the battery. Not a big deal.

They mostly all use a standard 5.5mm x 2.5mm DC power plug. Those can easily be found on eBay or Amazon with either pigtails or screw terminals. BTW, at the power input side of the controller, it is irrelevant whether it's for single color or RGB; 12VDC is 12VDC.

that's exactly what I was thinking but I found a couple of those that specifically said wouldn't work with rgb strips....only single color. No idea why because that makes no sense. The only thing I wasn't sure about was what kinda controller came with single color and if maybe they used a different barrel size because like you say....12v is 12v.

ok...finally settled on something and ordered everything. I got this one from ebay.
ebay strip light

The reasons are it's a simpler remote....I don't need a ton of different options as it'll just be static light 99.9% of the time. Also get 2 reels of 300LED's instead of 1 and it's an RF remote instead of IF. The other thing is the power connection to the controller....it has 2 ports. You can use a barrel connector or port 2 is a 2 wire set up which is what I'll use. Got this, white shrink tube, HD double sided tape, and a 4 wire extension on the way.

I'm confused; the LED strip is already 12vdc, as is the wiring in your trailer. Why use a 120vac-12vdc power supply? That means you can only use the strip with generator or hookups. When I installed my awning strip LEDs, one of the main points was to use them without genset/hookups. I installed the strip on the roller, and plug in a wire that then runs down the awning arm/leg. From there, it drops under the MH where I ran a short 12vdc line and a plug; out of sight and out of mind. Again, just curious as to why the 120vac power supply?

so far that's the thing I'm having the most trouble with....finding how to power the rf controller. I've found 12v barrel connectors but they say only single color lights. Don't know the barrel size or polarity needed for the controller. My plan is to run it into the basement and pick up power directly from a light in the basement. I could order one with a power supply and cut that connector I guess but I'd really like to not do that. I'd rather wire it up with it's own connector.

Here is one of the wire pig tales . .

Here is one of the pig tale coming down the awnimg arm... I did not have a power source close and was not thrilled about drilling a hole as I know Mr. Murphy and his law all too well - -

you have a picture of how you got power to it? I'm not looking to drill any holes myself. I guess I'm having trouble picturing how you have power going to it. I have a power awning but I haven't looked to see what it would take to get wires into the camper from there.

I will take some this weekend and post them...

OK whats Viper and Rejax and where can i get it ? That thing looks like a new penny !--

Don't know about Viper but here is Rejex. I found it to be no better than many other cream type polishes. I tried it on the front and rear of my trailer until the bottle was used up and it did not last very long, nor did it make it shine any more than the stuff in the orange bottle (NuFinish) that costs much less at Walmart or any other store.
