Replacing CONverter with INverter 2011 Fleetwood NEED HELP

I am Removing the failed WFCO WF-9855 CONverter that came with the unit and Installing a Magnum energy 2012-20B INverter on 2011 Fleetwood Terra. Any help would be appreciated. I cut incoming 120v wire before breaker box and inserted inverter, in and out 120v. The 12v wire from converter has no voltage reading. What am I missing? I thought these wire would run directly to the batteries.

You should have two wires that were connected to the WFCO output. Those (+), (-) wires should be connected to the batteries. If the Magnum is powered it should be charging with 13 V + to the battery terminals. Do you by any chance have a disconnect switch, a circuit breaker, or a fuse between the Magnum and the battery? Are you measuring at the Magnum 12V outputs?
  • YOU CANNOT REPLACE A CONVERTER WITH AN INVERTER ! !

A converter runs on 120VAC and makes 12VDC.

An inverter runs on 12VDC and makes 120VAC.

    THEY ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE !

True but some of these are called Inverter/Charger's as is the case here...

I do not think the existing DC wiring to the WFCO inverter are large enough to handle the inverter portion of your new Magnum.
That's a 2000 watt inverter Magnum recommends 4/0 copper wire.
That's about 5/8 of an inch in diameter.

I would be surprised if you even have #2 as existing to the battery bank.
I hope you have at least 4 -- 6 volt deep cycle batteries it you intend to use the inverter much.

The way you intend to install it will have the additional problem in that when your not on shore power and your using the inverter by powering the whole circuit breaker panel you also trying to feed the Magnum. Not sure how it will handle that. Best to turn off the circuit breaker for the inverter during this time.
Don't even think of trying to run the AC.

I recommend you get the remote unit, it's sweet.
