Simple mod for crew cabs: plywood deck over folded seats
This is so simple that it hardly qualifies as a mod, but we have found that it makes a big difference: after you fold down the back row of seats, add a thin sheet of plywood over the backs of the seats, cut to fit the space perfectly.
This has several advantages -- first, because the seat backs are uneven, this gives you a level playing field, with lots of room for your stuff.
Second, you can (if you wish) add baskets onto the plywood deck and secure them to the plywood. This keeps the baskets from skating around, and the baskets help keep your stuff organized. One of our baskets has multiple levels -- heavy objects go in the bottom basket, lighter stuff in the top.
The goal is to convert the back seat from a haphazard mess to a useful and organized cargo space. To tell the truth, though, after a couple of weeks of travel, it still becomes a mess, but it is easy to straighten up.
If you ever need the crew cab seats for actual passengers, the sheet of plywood is easy to remove.
I also added a thin layer of foam to the underside of the plywood sheet, to keep it from making noise on bumpy roads.
My "mod" is so simple that it is not worth posting a picture -- "see, folks, here is what a piece of plywood looks like!" But if you have more elaborate versions of the same thing, I'd like to copy your design, so let's see 'em!
