I managed to figure it out. there are 2 "L" shaped pieces on each end of the slide. you have to leave enough room for those to clear as the slide lifts and slides in or you'll tear up the floor. They are at the very edge of the slide so cut the board back about an additional inch or two to prevent them from hooking it.
Mine came with laminate floor angled across in the kitchen area. It's a floating floor and just has a trim piece on the angle across next to the carpeted side.
