Tv mount

I bought a tv mount for my 26" led to put in my camper. The issue I'm having is that the mounts arm isn't very long and the studs on my cabinet are on the corner of each side so I can't mount my tv. What are your suggestions on how to fix this? The only thing I can think of is to put a 2x6 up against the wall and then bolt the mount to that?
  • Beef up the inside of the cabinet with plywood mounted to the cabinet frame.

here are two google search photos I always pass along showing what you need to do... Use MOLY BOLTS to hold up the back board and use regular scres for your TV mount anywhere on the back board...

  • Actually I would say that your original idea may be the best solution short of purchasing a longer arm. I don't know if you need a 2x6 - a 1x6 may do the trick, kind of depends on how heavy the tv is. Also, if you can find a way to lock it back against the wall while travelling that will help with the force on the board.
  • I have done a couple of them and remember the new thin line are light weight so don't need that much support. Wish I would of taken some photos as it is hard to say without pics. My last one was a 28 inch against the wall. Never liked the bracket that you can buy too much money and too far out from the wall. If you need the angle that is a different question.
Sorry I can't be more help.
The last one I had less than 10 bucks into the project. Give it some thought and you can do it.

  • Hey I just installed a folding and locking tv mount in my Winnie. It was really easy to install and seems heavy duty. The guy over at www.lockingtvmounts.com was helpful and made it easy. Looks great too. Hopefully his helps!
  • If you are going to put the little TV pictured in that big box then just put the TV on the stand that it came with and screw the stand to the floor.
  • I mounted my tv on the side of the refrigerator cabinet. I removed the refrigerator and reinforced the wall from inside.

The other solution would be to add a board across the face of the wall as shown above. You will want to use a quality hardwood and finish to match the other wood in the RV.
