2011 Coachmen Chaparral 275 RlS - Questions

Good day all.

I am looking for a copy of the original Coachmen brochure for this rig.

2nd: there 3 blue water lines found underneath door/awning side right by the axles. 2 of them are open and directly beside each other, the third has a white plastic male threading on it (and found an accompanying Cap in the HW heater outer compartment).

I am assuming 1, 2 or all three are vents of some sort.?

If so, which is the Fresh water overflow? And what are the others for?
What is the Cap/threaded tubes' purpose.?

I'm asking as there does not seem to be a reliable method for knowing when the fresh water tank is full - I also dont know if the threaded line needs to be capped or uncapped whwn filling up w/said Fresh H2O.

This is my first 5th (lovin it), and first w/TV. We normally watch natures "TV" (the camp fire), but on those rainy nights, nice ta have the "tube".

Last Question:

Will the 12V receptacle to the right of the DVD player work using an inverter to power the TV (can it handle the draw?). If so, what size of inverter would be required.?

Note, I'm running 160W solar and dual-brand new 6V batts.

Thanx in advanz for your replies!
Much appreciated.

  • OK. Second Question on this.

While running some pex line from the fresh water vents to the right hand side of the trailer so that one can easily see when the fresh water tank is full, I noticed right underneath and to the front a bit from where the hot water heater would be a pair of what can only be low point drains...one hot (red) and one blue (cold).

Are they in fact low point drains for the complete water system.?

If so, I will likely connect them to a drain line (with valves)that I ran from the Fresh water drain & also to the right side of the trailer...all for easy visibility/accessability rather than crawling underneath each time I want to drain my tanks.

Just turn the valve and away it goes as opposed to unscrewing a cap.

    Thanx,

  • Probably 46 gallon freshwater, 2 33 gallon gray water tanks, and a 33 gallon black water
  • Great stuff. Thanks for that guys...

If im unable to find a brochure.

Anyone know what the tank capacities are?

  • I have a 2011 chaperal 271BH. Like the other poster said the threaded one is the freshwater tank drain, the other 2 are vents/overflow. The 12volt socket will handle an inverter large enough for the TV. My TV is about 60watts so get an 150 watt inverter if that is all you plan to power from it
  • Ok, so cap stays on during summer months - in winter, pull it off and let er drain right?

Its a lousy location - can see myself removing the threaded male pce, adding a 90 deg El + a length long enough to reach an attach point (tie wraps or hose clamp), add a valve and then another 90 down. Not into crawling underneath simply to drain the tank.

    Design PITA I guess...lol

Now the 2 that are together - they are fresh water vents? Both of them?

    Thanx!

  • The 2 next to each other are vents, the one that the cap fits on is the fresh tank drain. I have the 269BHS and the system is the same.
