I'm posting for my Dad because he isn't very internet savy. He just sold his 41ft Motorhome and purchased an Evergreen Amped 28FS. He put a sway bar on it to help with towing and it is still all over the place. He has towed trailers for years, and can not figure out what the problem is. Has anyone else had this problem. It is a trailer hitch tow, not a 5th wheel. He is pulling it with a Ford Excursion.
Problem is the Excursion, I used to have one and they are horrible to tow with compared to a truck. They used softer springs to make the ride better.
First thing to do is run the X tires at max PSI. Air bags helped a little, Bilstien shocks, F250 anti-sway. All those helped a little bit each. The one thing I did not try but hear it really makes a difference is replace both the front and rear leaf springs with F250/F350 springs.
If I were to do it all over again this is what I would do in order.
Tires, max air
anti sway bar
leaf springs
shocks
air bags.
