2014 Mesa Ridge Bunkhouse

We are looking to replace our 2009 Jayco Eagle Super Lite 31.5FBHS with a 2014 Mesa Ridge Fifth Wheel MF395BHS. We have no experience with any of the Open Range products and are wondering how they stack up?

Thank you in advance for your input.
  • We cant speak from experience but we are looking at open range and like it strongly, jayco bought open range 3 months ago. Dont know if it helps. Dealer we spoke to was very helpfull and explained the differce between open range and jayco.
  • As batavia02 stated, Jayco now owns Open Range, should be a good thing.
  • I have no experience with Open Range, but have noticed several going down the road which had obvious delamination on back and/or front.
  • For someone with over 25,000 miles towing an Open Range, I have had pretty good luck. Ours was one of tie first ones built and did have a little trouble with it. Dealer set up an appointment so I could take it to the factory to get repairs done. When we were there they were very good in the customer service area and fixed the problems. They asked if there was anything else and we ask them about a couple other things one of which was absolutely no fault of theirs and they gladly fixed them also. I would not be afraid to purchase another Open Range. Hope a little info from someone who has owned one will help. Good Luck in your choices and Happy Camping.

To add to Sluggo's comment, one of my problems was delam on the back panel. They had problems with glue in the beginning. If you look at the newer ones they all have a fiberglass front and rear panels. They removed the back panel and installed a new one. Haven't had trouble since. All of our repairs were taken care of in one day.
  • if your Jayco has given you good service, why not go with a new Jayco

We wish that Jayco had the features that are attracting us to the Open Range. We like the frameless windows, U-couch and floor plan that makes the space more open for when our dogs come with us. With teen-agers, our current bunkhouse design isn't given them their own space.

have you looked at a Jayco Eagle Premier 375BHFS .... its floorplan is similar to the one you are looking at but it is better built and has a more comfortable living area

  • You could go to the Open Range owners forum and post any questions on their "Prospective Owners Questions via the following link.

    http://www.openrangeowners.com/ORforum/viewforum.php?f=18

Those owners are very helpful and should be able to answer most of your questions.
