A different tire question.

I concur with those who are suggesting BFG Commercial TA's.

An LT tire in the size that you need built in the U.S. in the load rating you require should be all you need. I use BFG Commercial TA on my 5er. You don't need Ribs. The way you tow, your tires will age before wearing out.

As a previous poster said, see what Michelin says. Even if Michelin says they are O.K., you still have to decide if you want to continue to use them. I had trouble with ST tires on my previous rig and would never buy them because of the miles I travel. BUT, I would consider ST tires if I traveled the way you do.

The NHTSA only recommends that you inspect your tires for degradation more frequently after 5 years of age. If there is no cracking or other issues you can continue to use them.

Thanks to all for your input. My current tires are almost 7 years old. For peace of mind I may go with another set of XPS ribs, but I will talk to my dealer about Duravis. I have been buying tires from this same dealer since 1956, he's never steered me wrong, but I wanted to hear from experienced RVers. Travel safe.

I run my LT tires up to 7-8 years on my RV and equipment trailers before selling them to some one with a utility trailer or lawn service trailer. Drop by your local Michelin truck tire dealer. They can inspect the tires and give you a answer.

ST tires are 3-5 year replacement tire.

Duravis are usually cheaper than the ribs. You could also do something like this Sailun or this Gladiator Eand Gladiator F or a Geostar. Also these Powerkings are used by a lot of people in my area. One local dealer swore they were great Power KingLots of good choices. Of course YMMV. As you can see I am not afraid of the Chinese tires like others are. We ran Chinese tires on our gas trucks with no problems for years.

I do tow the fiver back and forth. The fiver is stored in a fully enclosed garage. As someone mentioned I could have it stored at our campground, they do offer that service, but to me half the fun is keeping my fiver washed and waxed and I do enjoy towing it. I try to get 7 years from a set of tires provided there isn't any serious cracking or other damage.

I had good service with BF Goodrich Commercial TA. They cost much less than Ribs.

I guess is just what is important.....a tire that will get you to and from or one that might blowout and cause delay and possibly damage....do you have TPMS
Tire seem a small cost if you figure it over the number of years.....you did not say what your expiration time criteria is....??? 3 to 5 yrs??? and then again how were they stored....uv protectant??? covered??? proper inflation all the time???? that all factors in to how long a tire will last along with regular usage to keep the chemicals active....good luck with whatever you do...

Since you are aging your tires out with lack of use, I would think an appropriate load rated tire but maybe a less mileage rating would be fine for your use.
