Awning Mold or black streaks

Is there a spray that I could use on my awning that would prevent mold or black streaks ? I was thinking of opening the awning at lease once a week to air it out, or after it rains.

When I opened it up this pasted spring it was a mess. My awning does not have a cover.

Tilex. Spray it on and then roll it up. Let it stand for 15 or 20 minutes and then re-extend the awning. Rinse with garden hose. Works great.

Thanks for all the suggestion about the awning next time i will try the tilex, then roll it up for an hour or so, then check it out.

Another vote for Tilex Mold & Mildew remover. However, my clothes didn't fare as well as AP said, so I wear clothes I don't care if they get spotted due to bleach. Old coach's awning looked like new after 11 years. Age was getting best of it and would need to replace if we kept it.

I have used tilex in the past (spray it on and roll up like previously suggested), but I found the generic bathroom tile cleaner from the dollar store works just as well.

Funny, I know a lot of people here like Magic Eraser but it did nothing for me and just fell apart in my hands. My freind had the same experience.
I guess as always, YMMV.

After the second time you use it, black and mold just doesn't come back. I had incredible black in the Spring ever year when first unrolling the awning. Then I discovered Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, and the following Spring, it did not have the black. Ever since, never had black come back. Clean it in the Spring, and then follow up with touch ups for bugs and such through the year. It might get dirty, but I haven't seen "black" or "mold" in years now. And yes, when I open the awning, it almost always pours out water.

Try it. It's a little effort to do, but the end result is well worth it. Remember... wipe it on, use a dry cloth and wipe it off. Repeat if it does not come off the first time. But do not scrub. Not necessary, just wipe on, wipe off with a dry cloth, small areas at a time so you are wiping off the dirty wet before it drys. Don't rinse, the chemicals in the eraser keep the black from coming back.

I caution you on using any type of bleach product, and spray... any over spray could get on the paint/decals and stain them... don't ask me how I know this :M

It had no effect on the cheap graphics on my TT or my buddys Arctic Fox.
FWIW, the "bleach" in Tilex doesn't seem to damage clothing either - or at least it hasn't bohtered mine.

About the awning, how about spraying the top about 1 foot down with camp dry maybe once or twice a year how would that work.

It wont stop it from coming back but "Tilex Mold and Mildew" Link Does an incredible job of removing the black mold.
I didn't want to spend anytime scrubbing mine this year so I just brought the bottle along. I mixed the entire bottle with a gallon of water in a garden sprayer and soaked the awning down at the CG. After leaving it wound up and soaking for three hours, I extended the awning and was shocked. It was 99% spotless. Only a few little spots at the outside edge that dried out wern't clean.

With our trailers I'd extend the awning and get on the roof with a bucket of water with bleach in it. Brushed down the awning with the solution and then rolled it up for about 1/2 hr. Open it back up scrub with a soft brush and dawn dish soap water. rinse well.
