- azdryheatExplorerA very quick Google search yielded the following:
"Regulations govern the transportation of certain hazardous materials across our toll facilities. Under these regulations, vehicles carrying bottled propane gas in excess of 10 pounds per container (maximum of 10 containers), bulk gasoline, explosives, significant amounts of radioactive materials, and other hazardous materials are prohibited from using the Fort McHenry Tunnel (I-95) or the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel (I-895). The Francis Scott Key Bridge (I-695) is a convenient alternative route for crossing Baltimore's harbor." - Johno02ExplorerBasically, no.
- RoyBExplorer IIIt is 64 feeding Virginia Beach where you have to turn off the propane tank and they inspect it to be sure it is off...
Never pulled through Baltimore but always heard you have to bypass the tunnel there...
Roy Ken - hart-attackExplorerno propane through the tunnels. 695E to the key bridge or 695W all the way around or cut through Delaware and take the bay bridge tunnel. i've used both when i was in Harford county and i prefer taking the Delaware route as it is generally a nicer ride.
- ChooChooMan74ExplorerX3. Gotta go around. Their rules, not ours.
- Johno02Explorergotta go around. If you have a problem with high bridges, go around the other way. Key Bridge is the better route IMHO. But its a long way down. Good sights for Navigator. my eyes are fixed on the road, my hands locked on the wheel.
- Second_ChanceExplorer IIWe just did South Carolina to Aberdeen Proving Ground via 95 in September. Had to avoid the tunnels and took the F. Scott Key bridge on the way up. The lanes are rather narrow and there wasn't much clearance on either side of the fiver. When I got to the other side, my aching fingers told me how hard I had been gripping the wheel. On the way back I took 695 around the north and west sides (Towson and Pikesville). It only added 18 minutes to our travel time and at least that many years to my lifespan. I won't be taking the Key bridge while towing again any time soon.

No restrictions there. - Johno02ExplorerThe Bay bridge at Annapolis has three lanes, so you can just get in the middle, but it is still a long way down, and you can see down through the east-bound lanes. I have made it across both, but not if I can find any other way. Folks down in cars don't have any problems, but the driver seat in a Class A is a lot higher, and those sidewalls on the bridges are a lot lower. A barrier that is windshield high in a small car is just wheel high to a RV. Not quite as bad in a Class C or B, but driving a Class A you are a lot higher, and closer to the edge!
- LantleyNomadYou guys are funny. I live in the area and have traveled the bay bridge and key bridge with the RV many times. No sweat.
You cannot go thru either of the harbor tunnels with propane. You must either use 695W or 695 E to the the key bridge to avoid tunnels.
