- 0rionExplorerI just took the bed off of an older (02) ford last week. Does your's not have the 6 bolts through the bed? If so it's pretty much impossible to put it back on crooked. Watch those bolts coming out because on the one I did the front 2 bolts were longer than the other 4. Helps to have a second guy there too to help you line up the clips if they get bumped out of position.
- pirogueExplorerThanks so much for the responses!
- AllworthExplorer IIAgree with measuring the distance from the back of the cab.
Also, you can hold a mirror at 45 degrees at the top edge of the front fender and sight down the side of the truck. Any "kink" in the line is more visible in the mirror that to the necked eye. - jtobbeExplorerI wouldn't worry about getting the pucks dead center of the hole. Set the bed on the frame rails and measure the spacing between the cab and the bed. That is going to be the most obvious place to tell if the bed is square.
