Coachmen and possibly others do not use plywood. They use a synthetic material like Azdel so that it will not rot. Note, Coachmen only using aluminum/Azdel/fiberglass (Filon) on the side walls. Not on the front, rear or roof.
There still might be a piece of 1/8" plywood on the interior under the finish wall covering.
As for the whole lamination process it self, I would hope it has improved over 10 years.
