- lanerdExplorer III had a CoachmEn travel trailer prior to my first motor home, and I'm sad to say it wasn't of a high quality build, but did serve its purpose.
- loggenrockExplorerOur present rig is a Coachmen. Lots of little quality issues, but compared to every other one we checked out, no better or worse. Opted for this because it had the floorplan we wanted/needed, and Coachmen seemed to have a better foundation, so to speak, than other manufacturers we looked at. ST
- JimmyRVExplorerQuality is a relative term for all rv's regardless of brand. Go to the rv brand forum or facebook group and most of what you see are complaints. Not too many people post the good, but lots post the bad.
We purchased a Coachmen Prism Class C on a Sprinter chasis a few months ago. A few small issues, nothing major. Overall very happy with our purchase. Based on our experiences with our several travel trailers before this motorhome, we purchased an extended warranty. Dometic ac and fridge lasted less than two years on a Keystone Passport.
Good luck with your purchase. - DrewEExplorer IIMy '98 Coachmen seems to me to be of reasonable quality but clearly built to a price. By that, I mean the materials are fairly basic (pressboard cabinet door panels, plastic bathroom sink, laminate couuntertops, etc.) and the fit and finish occasionally a little rough, but the design is sensible and the systems installed and wired properly and safely. The wiring and plumbing are generally neat and tidy.
Personally, I think that is a reasonable tradeoff, and preferable to luxury fittings and finishes with sloppy mechanicals. Having both would, of course, be the very best case...especially if someone else was paying! - JimmyRVExplorerBtw, one very positive thing about Coachmen motorhomes is that they use Azdel composite panels, supposedly impervious to water damage and rot. I will let you know in 10 years if this is accurate...lol...

Are you considering a brand new Coachman or a well used one? Which model and year specifically? I ask because not every Coachman model has been made the same, especially across so many years. Their entry level models are just that..."entry level" with lesser quality to offer a lower price. My brother owns a 1998 Coachman Starflyte which is built like a tank.
Has anyone had quality issues with Coachman motor homes? Thank you - Travelin2ExplorerA few months ago we bought a 2004 Coachmen 235SO. It seems to be quite well built and well thought out as to utilization of space for storage both inside and out.
- B-goatExplorerMy first trailer was a Coachmen. The only two problems I had was the window screen beside the dinette bowed out and would allow insects in. My dealer ordered me a new screen and solved the problem. Cost-$0. The only other problem was the cold water fitting at the kitchen sink started dripping. I tightened that one to fix that problem and checked the rest. I now have a 2016 Coachmen class C. Haven't had it too long, as I bought it used. The only problem so far was the board for the furnace got wet and ruined the board. I contacted Coachmen, they said give them the VIN, and my contact information. They emailed and said it was an Atwood issue. He talked to his Dometic rep, they sent me a new board, furnace door frame, door, and exhaust tube. He asked if I needed someone to do the replacement for me, but I told him I could take care of it myself. Cost-$0.
Most of the Coachmen's aren't high end, nor do they pretend to be. They don't have the solid surface countertops and the best furniture on the market, but they seem to be built as well as anything else without going to really high end stuff. I wouldn't have any problems buying another Coachmen. - FunTwoDrvExplorer2015 28QB here. Bought it used and have made several modifications to meet the DW's design goals. In the process I've been in every nook and cranny. Wiring, plumbing and general workmanship all seem to be done well. All pretty standard stuff. All in all, I'm not the least bit disappointed with the overall "quality". As mentioned, it was built to a price point and we're good with that.
