Best way to hook up sewer hoses for two holding tank?

Parents just bought a new fifth wheel. It has two separate drains for all the holding tanks compared to my toy hauler which only has one. I know I need to add a Y adapter.

What is the best way to hook them up?
Should I put the Y adapter closer to the rv or closer to the drain in the ground?
The distance between the rv outlets and sewer drain is over 10'.

I'm inconsistent with where I put the "Y" (aka "wye") and if I put a hose between the sewer outlet or not. It all comes down to the site layout and how it feels.

For the grey water tank I use a cap and sewer connection with garden hose fittings like pictured above in Old-Biscuit's post.

Black water tank uses the large sewer hose connection.

Been using this setup for 20 years with no problem.

I know its not giving you the answer you want but I have the same problem.
My dump valves are farther apart than the ones pictured. I carry my sewer hose in the rear bumper and didn't want to fool with another hose.
My solution was to add permanent extensions to each hookup so I don't have to get down on a knee to hook up. Makes hooking so much easier, so now its not that much trouble to just move the sewer hose as needed.

You can use a 3" wye at the CG connections and run hoses from each drain to wye


You can run hose from one drain to wye and then one hose to CG connection


You can run one hose from front drain (black/grey) tanks to CG connection and use a drain cap with garden hose connection, run garden hose to fitting that 3" hose connects to and has a plugged connection for garden hose (if rear tank is grey)





Depends on what you want to carry around/stow

I have two tanks on my TT also, I use a Y, a 10,15 and 5, depending what works best on how I have to park at different camp sites and where the dump is located. Some times just use one hose and dump one at a time.
