Black Roof Fallout

My daughter has a 28ft. travel trailor and recently had the rubber roof replaced by a professional mobile repair person. Sometime during the tear off that day black dust covered the inside of the trailor. It was on the carpet, upholstery, the bathroom toilet, table and everything. This black dust was almost impossible to remove. She had a cleaning crew come in and shampoo and clean but, all it did was lighten the black somewhat. Does anybody know what will remove this?
  • I wasn't there when this happened but since they have to take off the AC unit and vents when replacing the roof, I suspect it came in from those. The mobile repair person said he covered everything inside, but it doesn't look like it. There was black footprints on the toilet cover so somebody stood on it for some reason. It's a dirty job, the concrete where the trailer was sitting was all black.
  • There are several layers on the roof that would need to be penetrated before anything could get inside the trailer. The part they replaced was the rubber on the top layer. The next layers are the actual wooden roof decking then the insulation then a vapor barrier if there is one and finally the ceiling panels. I doubt if what she is seeing is from replacing the roof..Could be mold.

    B.O.
  • How did black dust get inside the trailer when the roof membrane was being replaced? Try some dollar store LA's Totally Awesome on the fabrics and carpet. It was pretty good stuff for a buck.
  • Black Dust = Mold?
I would be very concerned if this is what the dust is. Usually hard to remove.
