Blue Ox Gooseneck and Fifth Wheel Adaptor

I found out today through some searching that Blue Ox has redesigned their gooseneck hitch. It use to be called the "Diamond Hitch" but now its called the twist and flip gooseneck hitch.

Here is a Link to the gooseneck product page.

Something that I have liked about the Blue Ox gooseneck hitches in the past is that they do not require reaching into the bed wheel well to engage a locking handle.. everything is done from within the bed. This new version of the hitch has a locking collar that allows you to lock the hitch ball into place.

But, there are a lot of gooseneck hitches out there and this new version is not what got me thinking about posting.

What I found interesting what when I looked at the part numbers and descriptions. I found "DH9011 - GN to 5th Wheel Rail Adapter"

Here is a link to the installation instructions for this adaptorDH9011 Fifth Wheel Adaptor

At first glance this looks very similar to a Curt X5 adaptor. Basically, this adaptor adds fifth wheel rails to your truck bed that is secured via the gooseneck hitch.... Pretty good idea. But one of the complaints that I have read about the Curt X5 is that there is no way to draw down the adaptor to the gooseneck hitch.

The Blue Ox adds a draw down bolt to the adaptor to create a really tight installation and draw the adaptor down tightly to the bed.

Of course an advantage this adaptor gives is the ability to have a totally clean bed when not towing and a set of fifth wheel rails that you can use any standard fifth wheel hitch with.

I just wanted to share as this is another good looking, affordable option, to be able to haul a fifth wheel and have a flat bed.

Thanks!
