Carpet Cleaning

We have a younger bulldog who has been wetting on the carpet. I try to catch it as soon as I can and use Resolve pet foam to get it up. I understand that these carpets don't have a pad under them, it is just the carpet then plywood.
So the question is, is there any way to steam/shampoo these carpets, or do I just keep doing what I'm doing between the Resolve foam, Oxiclean scent powder, and vacuuming?

We ripped up all the carpets in one of our previous trailer and put laminate down in most of the trailer. We went with new carpet in the bedroom.....we liked that much better and it didn't really cost much. I did most of the work myself.

we just purchased a bissell pet cleaning handheld shampooer type vacuum from amazon - i'm thinking this will be enough for the carpeted areas and will definitely not take up too much space! thanks for all the input!

Have you considered a "belly band" for your dog? They work for the males pretty good. I used one for my one dog when he developed a health problem and peed a lot. Kept my carpets dry.

I'd be concerned with the urine soaking into the plywood.

We've been using this (Click here) for years now. You can get it in the gallon jug or in a spray bottle, ready to go solution. It's by far the best stuff we've ever used. Use it in your carpet cleaner, or just spray it and dab it up, or spray in the air like an air freshener, or saturate something that's really smelly! You can even use it as an addative to your laundry detergent. It has the enzyme eaters in it, works great on any surface, or air, or odor, or human, or animal (including cat). It's relatively in-expensive, can get it at WalMart, Lowe's Home Improvement, and a lot of other places. And leaves a pleasant smell. Once it drys, there's no more smell. If you use it in your carpet cleaner, it will make the entire carpet fresh smelling. It's really pretty amazing stuff to fight odors. Thus the name (Odoban .... Odor Banished??? just guessing). We use it at home (we have pets), in the camper (we have pets), in the car ... we had a grandson who use to vomit! (now almost 5 years old, no vomit, but lots of spilled food). Oh yea! It completely killed the vomit smell. Nothing worse than baby vomit smell in a BRAND NEW 1 week old car! Took it right out!

About your camper? Yes, there is no pad. The carpet sits directly on the wood. However, there may be a layer of something between the wood and the carpet, if the manufacturer laid a sheet of linoleum completely across the floor first, before adding the rooms and walls and carpet on top of that. Most are done like that. If so, any water spills will not reach the actual wood.

Enzyme based cleaner. Don't over do it, if the first treatment doesn't remove smell to your liking, treat again, rather than flooding the stain and pushing it further into the carpet.

Vinegar, baking soda, and a little hydrogen peroxide is my go-to diy carpet cleaner. Sucking up all the water is important.

I have used regular household Bissell carpet cleaner. Main thing is to suck as much water back up as possible. Wet soaked is bad. I turn on ceiling fan and set another fan on floor to speed drying on nice day with windows open. Randu

Definitely hire a pro. That's what we do. With professional equipment they can virtually leave your carpets dry, plus they have pet odor solvents and pet safe biodegradable cleaners.

In our house I pour vinegar on the spot, then put baking soda on it and place a white hand towel on top. Let it completely dry. The vinegar will take the odor away, the baking soda will soak up the vinegar and stain and the towel keeps us from walking on it as well. We usually leave it a couple of days to completely dry.

Our daughter uses Dawn and color safe bleach through a carpet cleaner.

I have a shampooer we carry with us. Works just fine. Never had a problem. Pulled all the carpets up last month to install new and there was no problems.
