Caulking question

Normally I use Dicor no sag or Proflex but I don't have any around and need to do some maintenance this weekend. Wondering if Big Stretch would be ok or if you could recommend something else I could order on amazon or get at Lowes? Thanks.

I recently tried a clear caulking called Lexel, by Sashco. It gets good reviews...time will tell. I found proflex gets very dirty.

I used this in the summer of 2014 to caulk my leaking slides. I caulked the seams running from roof to floor and along the bottom horizontal seam and it's held up very well, and has not leaked since. It is flexible so it also doesn't seem to have 'pulled away' like other caulk I've used.

Why not get proflex or dicor on amazon prime and pony up for next day delivery? Just order 2 and your have more for next time.
I actually looked there first. Could not find any proflex and the dicor that is available for quick delivery is the self leveling.

  • I like that stuff too (3M), but it tends to pick up dirt...
  • I use 3M 5200 that you can buy at Home Depot / Lowes...but at $25 a tube it is pricy. We use it on boats and it last for years. Great stuff...also a great adhesive to glue things to the trailer where you don't want to make a hole.
  • Using silicone is just a very temporary repair, If you want it done right, use proflex or Dicor! Make sure you clean the area you want to caulk prior or it will peel and become a temporary fix. I don't know what Big Stretch is. But again,, I would avoid silicone..
  • Using it around my outside storage doors and around the windows. Looking for white because the clear always seems to start looking dirty after a year or so.
  • What are you caulking ? I use clear outdoor silicone for stuff, but not sure I would use it everywhere on an RV.
