Cedar Creek and Residential Fridge Question

We have a 38FL with Residential Fridge. The doors are setup from the factory with the lock shown below. This screw has worn over the last year so we will probably change over to a different lock mechanism when it warms up as the rig is covered for the winter.



I would rate quality as better than average, but like all rigs most of the rig is assembly of other components and honestly many of the same components in 80% of the other rigs out there. Very good support from the factory direct to us and our RV techs and that is what I consider the important part. Having said all of that we have had very good luck the last year and half with no major problems.

Thanks for adding the info. I knew you had the better inverter but didn't know it came with the fridge.

Hope y'all are having a good winter down there in Las Cruces. We are about to get a cold snap here. Probably will be below freezing for a couple of days and may get some ice to boot. We are planning heading for Florida in a week. Hope my "semi-winterizing" gets us through this cold weekend.

We have a Samsung French door in ours. The top doors are held in place by a simple Velcro strap wrapped around the handles. The bottom has a strap running from one side to the other which attaches to a couple of latches on the cabinet frames. Simple but has been good for about 8k miles and no problems. We only have 2 6 volt batteries and have plenty of juice for an all day drive, which is as long as will generally ever be without shore power. I did change the modified sine wave inverter to a 1000 watt pure sine wave as it supplies house like current. The Samsung is supposed to run fine on the modified but I felt better with the pure.

DRV installs Whirlpool French door/bottom freezer. When we picked our new unit up last week, we found they use a Velcro strap for upper fridge doors and the screw dial where the 2-doors meet the bottom freezer. Our dealer also gave us some black felt to use as a buffer when tightening the screw handle. It looks just a longer RV window handle.

It comes with a dedicated inverter (mine is 600 watts) with four six-volt deep-cycle batteries to power the reefer while in transit and while boondocking. It should hold for three to four days if you limit how many times you go into it.

I don't have the residential fridge (not enough room in my 34 RLSA). But one of the things many who have one do is to install a better inverter in the camper. Someone will join in and give you more specifics, but because your res fridge will only run on 110 AC, the battery(s) (through a good inverter) will have to power the fridge while you are on the move. I don't know for sure, but I don't think there are any res fridges out there that run on gas. If I'm wrong, someone will correct me.

Yeah the dealer is scheduling a plant tour while ours is on the assembly line. Tours are Tuesday and Thursdays only correct?

We bought the baby cabinet locks for ours. They are the type that has straps that go around the handels and the snap togeather when closed. I think they are made by first alert. Before we got them the only time we had a problem was when I got mad at a gas station because they wouldn't let me use the diesel pumps for big trucks and I pulled out real quick and made a fast tight turn. The door to the refer part came open and spilled food all over the floor. I was mad enough at myself that the wife didn't even say anything to me. lol

If you ever get a chance to take a road trip up to Toledo, IN, where the factory is, be sure to do it and make a reservation for a tour. My 2005 CC has been bullet proof until this year. I have two issues that I need to take care of when weather is warmer and dryer. Both items I consider normal wear and tear and am no the least bit upset about them. Called CC and had the parts with a week. Excellent people to deal with. We are now full timing in our Creek and it is quite comfortable even in the 35MPH east winds we have had and now the cold temps.
