Coachman Chaparral vs Primetime Crusader

My family is looking to get a new fifth wheel. We like the floor plan of the Coachman Chapparal 390QSMB but started out really liking the Primetime Crusader 370BHQ. The first sales rep we worked with really endorses the Primetime and says it is "far superior" than the Coachman Chaparral. I also talked to a Coachman rep at an rv show who obviously endorses the Chaparral. I want a unit that is high quality and will last. I like the Chapparal floor plan much better. Any thoughts as to why one is better than the other or are they fairly comparable? Thanks!
  • We had a Chapparal from 2011 to 2014 bought it new and it was very nice camper with very few problems. Can't comment on the other brand. We looked at the new one's last year when we bought our new Cougar and the wife did not like any of the new Coachman floorplans.
  • Unless a poster has *owned* one of each, their comparisons are no better than yours..:(

If a salesperson's mouth is moving, he/she is "blowing smoke"!
Do your own research of/for each brand, models, and floor plans.

Check owners clubs and forums (search features) and other sources like yahoo groups for owners experiences.
    The good-bad-ugly.

Watch for posts by owners with *problems* looking for *solutions* from other owners..;)

  • I've had my Chaparral lite for a year now and not a single problem.
  • Both companies are owned by Forrest River. I would say they are comparable. We did see one like the Coachmen at the RV show here in January. Looked pretty nice. Just get the one that you like. Good luck, John
