confused!!!

I bought a 1989 skamper 5th wheel and am not sure about the weight. one site lists it as 4950 lbs and a nother lists it at 7500 lbs. now im not sure my 2007 dodge ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 will haul it. any help would be appreciated.
  • I would suggest you have someone take it to a scales if you don't have a hitch yet and get it weighted.
  • I guess that would be the best way. if it weights at 4950 i should still bw able to haul it right? I plan on beefing up the suspension an swapping out the rear gears.
  • Well, even at 7500 your pin weight will be roughly 1500 lbs. I would look at the door tag for the GAWR of your rear axle and make sure it falls within that. I don't know what engine and axle you have, but you just may want to watch the over drive when towing vice changing out you rear end gear ratio. The 7500 lbs figure could be the gross weight for the trailer is rated for with the lighter weight being for an unloaded trailer minus options. Good luck.
  • What model is it? Nada lists the 1989 Skamper 5ths from 3075 to 5840lbs. I assume thats dry weight but Nada doesn't specify.
  • Not sure what the model number is the tag on the side of the trailer said 32gw 4525 kg. its a 32' model. the truck i have is a manual trans and the 4.7L V-8.
