Distance from B&W to GM SB cab back window

Looking to see if anyone can provide measurement on a short bed chevy from the cab to the hitch when its in the furthest back mounting point. I'm trying to determine if the 5er I am looking at will work with a non-slider on my 2012 GMC short bed. B&W is my first choice unless I will need a slider I'll go Superglide.
  • Well at 101" wide that changes things a bit. That will reduce the amount of angle you can get between truck and trailer. You may want to go. With the super glide after all.

If you have an extended pin box you will be fine.

My understanding is that the GM trucks have the furthest distance from the rear of the cab to the rear axle, followed by Ford, and then Dodge being the shortest.

That is true, GM is 41.6", Ford is an inch shorter. But that small difference doesn't make much of an impact. Design of the front cap is probably more significant. But any combo of cab-to-axle distance and front cap design will work w/o a slider. The difference is more or less maneuvering when things get tight. Except for a Dodge with a flat front cap, all will jack-knife sharper than a typical TT setup.
  • Its a FW toyhauler (Eclipse Attitude 28AKLG) wich is a 102" wide body. I posted here figuring I would get more feedback than in the toyhauler section.

I've seen the B&W slider but given its a manual slider I would prefer the Superglide if I need to go that route.

  • What FW an what year?
08 Mountaineer and 13 Pinnacle both turn plenty short on my 13 GMC 6 1/2 ft. bed with B&W. Hitch is mounted as far forward as I can get it.
Both FWs could still hit the cab if I do a real sharp U turn but I would never turn that short with out backing up and straightening the rig anyway.
    Good luck

  • The design of the FW front is more important than the brand of truck. Most newer FWs are designed to be pulled by a short bed (6 1/2 ft). In my earlier Ford the hitch was 40 1/2 inches behind the cab, and worked well with my other FW. The hitch in my 13 Ford is back 41"s from the cab. I have good clearance with my new FW. My B&W is mounted just ahead of the axle. No slider necessary with either of my rigs.

  • Well if you do need a slider you can still have a B&W.they now have a slider base for their companion hitch. Winner winner ,,,,,,,,
  • On a GM truck the pin should be over the rear axle to 1 1/2 inches in front of the rear axle. I believe the B&W web site will give you the information you are looking for.
